Vitamin drips, formally known as intravenous nutrient drips, are a rapidly spreading treatment that helps the body receive nutrients quickly. Used for decades but popularized by celebrities, this treatment can help restore a healthy state after feeling under the weather. Let us look at how this alternative treatment can help you regain control of your health.
Vitamin Drips: A Revolutionary Way to Feel Your Best
What are vitamin drips?
According to the American Osteopathic Association, or AOS, nearly 86 percent of American adults take oral supplements. However, they also reported that only 21 percent noticed any benefits or health changes to their physical or mental functioning. Our vitamin drip services deliver a highly concentrated dose of minerals and vitamins into the patient's bloodstream— surpassing the power of over-the-counter oral vitamins. We achieve this by using an intravenous (IV), which allows the body to absorb the chosen components slowly. These components are often referred to as cocktails, considering they use a mixture of vitamins and minerals. For example, the Myers cocktail consists of calcium, magnesium, vitamin B (12, 6, 5, and complex), and vitamin C.
We can employ various cocktails consisting of differing combinations. However, patients must first undergo a consultation to determine which will prove most effective.
Ideal candidates for vitamin drips
During a consultation, we will review the patient's medical history, symptoms, and current supplements or medications. We encourage patients to bring a list of the exact supplements and medications they are taking, along with their dosages, frequency, and duration of use. We may also order blood tests and a urinalysis to determine the levels of vitamins within the blood.
These tests can also identify whether deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals are present, which will require more than certain foods or activities to resupply. For example, a patient with a vitamin D deficiency will find it hard to take in and hold the component through natural sunlight. They may experience low energy levels and decreased cognitive functioning, even if they spend most of their time outside.
We ask that patients arrive at least 15 minutes before their appointment to ensure we have all the necessary paperwork. Please plan accordingly, and expect to spend around 30 to 45 minutes with us during the consultation.
Advantages of vitamin drips
Patients seek our vitamin drips for various reasons, from addressing medical conditions to boosting physical and cognitive functioning.
Dehydration
Dehydration can lead to serious consequences, such as delirium, fatigue, dry skin, muscle cramps, dry oral cavity (mouth, lips, and tongue), urination issues, and dizziness. When a patient tries to drink water to combat these symptoms, they may vomit because the body is trying to shut down. Fortunately, some of our cocktails contain electrolytes in addition to vitamins and minerals to rehydrate or replenish the body in a controlled manner quickly.
Digestive issues
When the digestive system becomes compromised, the body can find it difficult to absorb vitamins and minerals. Many patients will try to combat these issues with oral over-the-counter alternatives, but our vitamin drip cocktails may prove more effective due to their dosage and absorption rate.
Fatigue
Many times, when a patient is experiencing chronic fatigue and has no underlying medical issues, they have extremely low levels of vitamin C or a vitamin C deficiency. In addition to adding vitamin C, which has antioxidant and energy-boosting properties, in a cocktail, we will likely combine zinc and B vitamins to help turn food into energy, glutathione to help support the body's ability to repair itself and reproduce energy, and magnesium to alleviate muscle fatigue.
Hangovers
Vitamin drips have often been advertised as rapid-relief options for hangovers. Alcohol consumption leads to dehydration, headaches, nausea, inflammation, vasoconstriction of blood vessels, and the accumulation of toxic byproducts in the body. It also quickly depletes the body's natural source of electrolytes, zinc, vitamin C, B vitamins, and magnesium. Our cocktails can replenish these components in 20 minutes to one hour.
Increase physical performance
Athletes of all types rely on vitamin drips to increase their physical performance ethically. Due to the level of excursion, most athletes experience during their chosen activity, their bodies rapidly lose minerals through sweat. These can lead to muscle weakness or cramps before they finish their game or exercise. That is why most of them schedule a pre-game or pre-workout vitamin drip the day of their game to prevent too many minerals from leaving their body at once.
Migraines
While migraines can have various causes, vitamin drips can address those resulting from dehydration and vitamin deficiencies. If we can isolate the source of one's chronic migraines, we can create a cocktail specific to addressing the area of concern without the patient needing to stay on medications that only address symptoms.
